Aug 2014 - Europa Hotel (video shoot), Atlantic Lounge with VcV & more...
The Italians were over in N. Ireland at the start of August to shoot the video for "Don't Wanna Kill For Religion", which we did in Belfast Also, I had a solo gig with VerseChorusVerse, did a tonne of writing & recording, and confirmed the first UN trip to North America. So, in chronological order....

"Don't Wanna Kill For Religion" is a true story about being caught in a bomb scare in Belfast city center during one of the handful of times it happened to me as a kid during the Northern Irish "Troubles". So it seemed appropriate then, to shoot the video on the roof of the Europa Hotel, the most bombed hotel in the world. There's a great panoramic view of the city center up there too.
The band scenes for the video were filmed that night, but we still need to get some of the other scenes together involving an actor friend of mine. The song itself has been more or less mixed, and we'll be lining up a release after coming back from Canada in October. More on that below.

After the video shoot, the Italians got to see a few things that Northern Ireland has to offer....
St. Patrick's Grave @ Down Cathedral, Lough Neagh, Giant's Causeway, Carrick-a-Rede, Ulster Hall, Carrickfergus Castle, the Silent Valley (including the Magic Road), Spelga Dam, Belfast wall murals, locations from Game of Thrones and some other places like Bushmills Distillery...

I was lucky enough to do a gig with VerseChorusChorus aka Tony Wright of And So I Watch You From Afar repute at the Atlantic Lounge in Portrush on the 8th August. It was a great gig in the end, and we might get the chance to do something in future, maybe in Italy. The set list is over here.

As mentioned above, we're bringing UN to North America for the first time in October. I'm doing some solo gigs at Indie Week Toronto between 15th - 19th, unless we can land sponsorship to bring the whole band. I don't know all the details right now, but one of the gigs will be the main UK music showcase at Toronto's famous music club - The Rivoli on Saturday 18th Oct. More details will appear on the tour dates page between now and then, as I should be doing multiple gigs.
The reason I started Unquiet Nights was to make great records and to get the chance to travel and meet interesting people. In that spirit, Canada will be the ninth country we've toured in since starting in 2011. Considering some options about playing in New York too, but time there is pretty limited so that might have to be the next trip.
As well as being the birthplace of Neil Young, Toronto is also the birthplace of my grandad who was born at Grace Hospital and lived in Toronto for a couple of years.

The next blog should have details of all the Toronto gigs, as well as news about upcoming new music.
Until next month....
